Day 12. - The Mighty Hawks

This is going to be short and sweet today as they were only two "happenings" on the agenda.  The first was the footy and the second was the journey back to Lahinch.

I got up early and had my breakfast at the hotel... one of the waitresses asked me if  I was from Australia ... How did she know?? I guess my little Vegemite  package was a dead give away!! She had spent  a few months in Cranbourne in Melbourne, so we chatted about  various Melbourne things. It's amazing how many people over here have either been to Australia or intend to go there.

Breakfast at the hotel

After that I checked out of the hotel and headed for Paddy's place to get my laptop connected to the TV, so  I could watch the footy…It was just as well I was watching it there, because the internet connection in the hotel was a bit flakey. Nothing worse than trying to watch the footy, and the connection keeps buffering!!! But it all connected smoothly and we were away!!!

Ready to go!

And of course, because the mighty Hawks won, it was mostly an enjoyable experience. My vocabulary increased in colour as the match progressed, but fortunately that didn't distress Paddy and Bern too much… they are a bit used to me!!!

The match finished about 1.30pm Ireland time, so I virtually packed up my laptop and set off almost immediately, as the journey ahead was a predicted three and a half hours…

I was thinking that I didn't have many other pics to enhance my story. The journey was virtually the same as when I came over, and this time I knew where I was going. There was a fair bit of rain along the journey, but that is part of being in Ireland.

But as I got closer to the west coast and Lahinch, it really started pelting down. By this stage I was mainly on the motorway, so at least I was driving with 2 lanes.

But when I actually got to Lahinch, I could see the wild Atlantic roaring in. I would have stopped but I was just keen to get home by this stage.

I had the warmest welcome when I returned. I really feel like I have come home. Marie was at the door with a big hug, Patrick welcomed me with a tune on the accordion and Pat heated my dinner for me! (Ellen is working over at the Falls hotel tonight)

I was telling Marie about how the sea was roaring in, so she suggested we pop back into town and get some pics to enhance the blog!!! It's a family project, this blog!!

So here's a few pics of the Wild Atlantic to finish off

It's nice to be home!!,
