And I was up very early - 5.30am in fact - to watch my Hawkies. After a few "holding your breath" moments we prevailed, and made it all worthwhile!!!

After all that excitement, I had some breakfast, then went back to bed!!!!
This afternoon, Marie had to go up to Ennis, about half an hour away, and invited me to come along for the ride. It's been a wet day, but not too cold, so that seemed like a good thing to do.
We went to Dunnes store, which is a bit like a combination of Myers and Woolies! I sat and had a coffee in their cafe, while she did the jobs she had come to do.

It is Saturday today and it was incredibly busy. Very hard to get a park. Marie is a great guide though and knows Ennis very well, having worked there for quite a while.
On the way home, we went via Ennistymon to collect some milk... but in a slightly different way from usual...
We stopped in the car park of the Catholic Church and there is set up a fresh milk collection point called Mooghna. It is run by local farmers and the milk is straight from the cows to you... It is named after a local townland...

Marie assures me it's all very hygienic and the machine is cleaned daily... it is literally straight from the cow into a machine.
And you can get a variety of flavours, as well as plain straight milk.
And to all those faithful followers of this blog, who have requested some more recitals from the Shannon family, Patrick brought out his accordion last night and entertained us all.
He has not only grown in physical size, but also in his skill level in his music!
So... settle back, relax and enjoy...
Oh Moira, the Mooghna story was great! You were commenting about it being a soft day, when I was a wee lass we learnt a song called ‘A Soft Day, Thank God’ and I never realised what a soft day was until years later. Well done on the Hawks. ☘️

Don’t like the sound of their petrol, I thought ours was bad mind you our supermarket prices are soaring. Noah goes through Ristorante pizzas from Coles or Woollies like there’s no tomorrow and not so long ago they were $6:50 and now they are $9:50. Rikeisha has 2-3 tubs of fit yoghurt every day and they used to be $2:20 and now they are $3, I managed to get them on special yesterday for $2:40 so bought 16 but they don’t even last a week. Kids are very expensive to run…

Yep, cost of living is extra large over here. Many of the items you buy have the same numerical number, but of course, the Euro takes up 2 of our Australian dollars! A soft day is an Irish saying for it's raining outside - which is most of the time!!! Glad you liked the music. He is getting very good!

Always something new and exciting here in Ireland. Actually the petrol station that housed those washing machines has closed, and they are now housed in the basement carpark of the Supa Valu shop. Truly amazing!!!

ReplyDeleteYay for the Mighty Hawks and their faithful followers. The milk dispenser is quite intriguing and a great boon for farmers selling directly to the public. Bet the milk tastes different too.
Can't think in $$ or it does you head in when in Europe or UK - you wouldn't buy anything. Hope your card is sorted now x
